Zero Waste Lifestyle Lecture held in Sumy

In the framework of our project, our partner from Sumy, the Department of Infrastructure of Sumy City Council together with the Department of Finance, Economy and Investment of Sumy City Council organized a lecture-discussion “ZeroWaste Lifestyle” for students of Sumy city universities. The lecture was prepared and held by Olena Melnyk – Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of Ecology and Botany, Head of the Department of International Projects of the Research Department of Sumy National Agrarian University.

Due to quarantine restrictions, the lecture-discussion was held online.

In order to revive the learning process and enhance the cognitive activity of students, it was decided to abandon the format of a regular lecture. Students had the opportunity to freely express their opinions in dialogue with the lecturer, as well as take part in an interactive quiz based on the Kahoot game learning platform, as a result of which the 9 most active participants were awarded gifts from project partners.

The following key issues were addressed during the lecture:

1. Modern EU waste policy and unique practices of European countries.

2. 5 best European models of food waste collection from the population

3. The issue of food waste collection in Ukraine, taking into account the peculiarities of the local mentality.

4. Tips for reducing the amount of organic waste.

63 students registered for the lecture, and the total number of lecture participants reached 80 people, including interested teachers and post-graduate students.
