The Isles of Scilly Museum in the former town hall in Hugh Town on St. Mary's, England, is a treasure trove of memorabilia relating to these islands.

This museum is one of the best. There are many photos of Islanders past & present whose life has been told in their own words. It also covers both large & small events and presented them in a logical and time-presented way. Really, it tells the stories in a wonderful way. It is truly a history of the islands and the islanders part in it. This is well worth a visit.

This museum has two levels, the ground floor takes you through the ancient history and archaeological finds and brings you right up to date. There is detailed history of the many significant shipwrecks leading up to the Torry Canyon tanker. The lower floor is more natural history with many fine examples of taxidermy. Well worth a visit.

The isles of Scilly museum has a very varied and extremely interesting array of displays that go into in depth detail of the history of the islands. A must visit for anyone who loves local history. There's everything from ship wreck finds to excavated medieval weaponry as well as more recent history such as a detailed display on the Cita ship wreck in the 90s and the history of flower farming on the islands, which was the main source of income for the islands for decades. If you're visiting and are stuck for something to do, this is the place to visit.

I found the museum very interesting indeed! In fact we spent well over 2 hours in there! The Torrey Canyon disaster was especially interesting! Time extremely well spent if you decide to visit!

Was there for only an hour and a half and could have stayed for much longer but had to get back to boat. Loads of info and artefacts about prehistory of the islands and ship wrecks through the years. Might be boring for children as it's a traditional museum nothing interactive (which I prefer personally).
