It was a dark night and in-car atmosphere was growing weary, but alas, we spotted him. A conversation starter, a mystery that needed unravelling with no time to spare. I hopped on Google to find a community of likeminded British drivers gazing upon the same splendour that I had - I was no longer alone. My onwards adventures will not compete with those of the past. My community, found. It feels as if everyone of you glorious review writers is right there in the car with me. Fare the well.

As I was driving down the M40 the other night, something caught my eye—an unexpected marvel of architecture rising against the sunset. It wasn't a cathedral, a museum, or a fancy office building. No, it was an incinerator plant. Yes, you that right.

The design was nothing short of mesmerizing. The sleek lines, the elegant curves made it stand out like a modern art installation. I had to do a double-take as I drove by, trying to wrap my head around the fact that something so utilitarian could be so stunning. The blend of form and function was unlike anything I'd seen before in industrial design.

I have to admit, I wasn't exactly sober when I encountered this masterpiece. I’d had a few drinks earlier in the evening, which only added to the surreal quality of the moment. The glow of the structure, combined with my slightly hazy state, made it feel almost otherworldly—like I was witnessing a scene from a futuristic movie.

It’s rare that something as mundane as an incinerator plant leaves such a lasting impression, but this one did. I never thought I’d say this, but I’d recommend taking a drive past it if you’re in the area—though, of course, do so safely and soberly.

As my friends drove me down the M40 on this dark night, out the window I see a beauty, a building so curvy and promiscuous, glowing from the inside out. So here I am after searching for the name of such a stunner, wanting to know the name of the love of my life ... Viridor Ardley. Maybe one day I'll have the courage to call you mine. You ignited a fire in my soul that I can only hope can burn as big and bright as yours ❤️. From your drive by love xx

A bleak morn in November,
A moment to remember.
Driving down the M40,
I started to feel a bit naughty.
To the trees on my right
Was a wonderful sight,
Oh what a curve,
My car started to swerve.
I must admit, I stared a bit.
The blend of hues, adorning it.
The bright and gentle coloured paint,
Almost made me want to faint.
Oh what a danger that would be
For other cars alongside me.
A testament to modern man,
The astounding beauty which he can,
Instill into a thing mundane
Yet so far from being plain.
And now in all my days,
I shall never forget that first long gaze,
All future beauties pale in contrast,
To this perfect monument, which I've passed.
Twas only a moment, twas only a flash,
Viridor Ardley

I can’t think of anything to say that hasn’t been said already.
I saw the unusual awesome building and wondered what it was… assumed it was a ski slope or at least an indoor activity centre. Google answered my question and was surprised at it being an incinerator! Then had a thoroughly entertaining journey reading the other reviews. Thankyou to all reviewers ?

What an unexpected joy I had as I was driving down the otherwise dreary and uninspiring M40 one night when I turned my head and caught a glimpse of the most incredible, show-stopping incinerator I have ever laid eyes upon.

Such was the impact on those in the car, we turned around at the earliest opportunity just to drive past it again. The only negative is that everything I see now pales in comparison to its beauty, making the world outside of the Viridor Ardley ERF a colder and harsher place. I only wish I could spend the remainder of my days driving past this stunning sight.

My God, where do I begin? This is by far the best thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life. I truly cannot believe such a beautiful building exists. I was travelling to Portsmouth, but now I just want to turn around and go back to see Viridor Ardley ERF again. Words just can’t do this place justice - the seven wonders of the world pale in comparison.

I was feeling glum on my drive to Southampton, but once I clapped eyes on Viridor, its elegant beauty lit an incinerator in my heart. All those small annoyances burned away and I saw, as if from outside myself, the beauty and enterprise of humanity.
