Well laid out, with helpful and friendly staff. All the negative reviews seem to be commercial operators. For domestic users, it's very efficient and has much shorter queues than other sites I've used. Note the opening hours before going.

When there is a problem with fly tipping in the area strict requirements for permits and an impossible process for applications is no doubt one of the leading causes. A little bit of thought could go a long way for North Somerset council.

Tidying out my mum's garage today. Needed few trips to recycling centre with various things helped by my friend. Made sure to check opening days/hours as it's not a 7 day operation. Staff there are very courteous and helpful. One in particular emptied a bag for us and made sure all the items went in the correct skips. He also gave us on advice on where other items needed to go as they were mixed materials. I don't live on Backwell myself and think the service here is excellent.

The team here have to be be strict in marshalling everybody through and ensuring that everything goes in the right place. Without that, it would doubtless all start to unravel sharpish. I've always found them to be very helpful, particularly today when a chap came over to assist when I got embroiled in a desperate fight with a double mattress. It's one of the perks of driving a Xsara Picasso – people help you out because you're assumed to have already hit rock-bottom.

I have to say, when my neighbour desperately needed the help and support of everyone, from North Somerset council to the very helpful guys at Backwell, everyone went above and beyond!
Late on the previous day, a bag containing an I-pad, a purse, a great deal of duty free and a passport to mention just a few, was mistakenly thrown away with other rubbish but on a morning that found Wayne (the site manager) short staffed, he, along with his colleagues, took the time and trouble to recover the bag and return it to an already very distraught lady!
We are all very quick to criticise at times so when people step up to the plate, they should be commended for it and all concerned from the helpful people who called her back @ Somerset council to Wayne and his team deserve a huge mention and a great deal of thanks!

Yesterday I punctured a tyre en route to the recycling centre. I asked if I might leave my car there whilst I got help. Wayne, the site manager, was called and immediately started to fit my spare tyre for me. Really going above and beyond! Thank you for your kindness Wayne. The site is a pleasure to visit. Tidy and efficient with very helpful staff.
