I was struggling to drag a rug up the steps and 4 employees just stood gawping at me, with no offers of any assistance.
Eventually the youngest one came over and helped., I was very thankful.

Staff always great help, love having this place in Royston just wish they had more open days and didnt shut early every day. Closing time means the staff have left the site, so they actually shut the gate 5mins earlier, caught me out a few times including today with fence panels on my roof.

Always helpful whether pointing me in the direction of where to go b
And/or to lend a hand, especially when I've been on my own. I'm impressed with the tidiness of the site and how much is recycled. The staff are really good about ensuring the right content goes in the correct bin(s).

I was 'greeted' by the most arrogant, rude staff member today at 2pm. I arrived on foot and the moment I walked onto the site, a man came shouting and waving his arms towards me, in an intimidating manner. He was telling me, at the top of his voice, even once he was directly in front of me, that I cannot come onto the site by foot. He stood over me telling me he couldn't let me on, yet I was already on the site, by the bulbs recycling point. I am sure that he was trying to use his 6 foot plus stance to intimidate me, a 5'4" female and am also certain that he would not have behaved in this manner towards a male of similar stance. He said to me, like a child, it is dangerous to walk onto site by foot and I explained to him that I'm capable of using my eyes and ears to walk onto the site safely. Once people in cars arrive, they do have to exit their cars and, shock horror, sometimes walk across from one side to the other! It's incredible that I managed to walk to the site from my house without getting run over! He said he has been informed by the council that he cannot let pedestrians on site for their own safety and that he's a stickler for rules...yet he proceeded to advise me to use my recycling bin at home to place my items in, if I couldn't drive to the site. I did tell him that kerbside recycling doesn't accept bulbs and hard plastics. For someone who's a stickler for rules, he sure doesn't understand them very well. Anyway, I asked him to take the items I have as I was already on site and he clearly wasn't letting me past. There is no sign stating that pedestrians are not allowed on site nor is there anything on the NHDC recycling website. If pedestrians are barred from accessing the site, as a Council Tax payer, I should have the same rights as anyone to access or receive a discount on my rates. The solution is to create a safe passageway for pedestrians, not prohibit them from entry.
All of the staff members I have previously encountered at the site have been friendly and we've even shared a few jokes. This man is rude and I'd label him a BULLY and a Jobsworth! There's a way to talk to people and shouting at the top of your voice isn't it!

Very professional and helpful staff, we took a very heavy bag of garden waste which wasn't suitable for the disposal options they already had opened as we couldn't lift it up the stairs, so they kindly opened a new container so we could empty the bag into the container. They are always polite and willing to help and advise, these guys do a fantastic job.

Staff always really helpful. Tidy site, considering what it's for and while you sometimes have to gueue, there's always plenty of room for whatever you have. Generally, very good, well done.
