Unfortunately, the female employee (not wishing to assume gender) that works at the site needs to have further training in how to deal with members of the public. A number of times I have visited, she is incredibly rude and abrasive. I'm a tax payer lawfully coming to dispose of waste at a facility, it's normally polite to engage with people how you wish to be treated rather than barking orders when asked a simple 'excuse me, where should this go?'. The employees at Newtown tip are a breath of fresh air compared to Welshpool, they actually treat you as fellow human beings just trying to dispose of unwanted items rather than a borderline criminal should you, heaven forbid, arrive with a black bag. Whilst I appreciate that everyone has a job to do, it wouldn't be too much to ask to not be scowled at or spoken to like an idiot when lawfully disposing of waste.

I don't know why all the negative reviews. We have recently moved to the area and found no issues apart from one, the parking up and this is more to do with the visitors. Rather than backing up to the skip people just park next to them, where you could get two or three vehicles next to each skip you can only get one and if people park poorly (and some do) they overlap the next skip, compounding the issue.
I have always found all the staff friendly and helpful, you only need to ask.
I see one lady working there (I don't know if this is who the vitriolic comments are directed at) and she is more than helpful when asked.

Dangerous entry? Come on! If people used their eyes, have patience and use common sense it's not an issue.

It loses one star only because of the unloading arrangements, which could be better laid out.

So disappointed..... I've recently moved to the local area, this tip is the closest to my home. I got there and was asked where I lived. Apparently I can't use the tip as my address comes under Shrewsbury. All I wanted to get rid of was some cardboard packaging but it was a 'no' . I just think it was a bit harsh really, I had no idea I couldn't use the local tip.

One thing that makes the recycling centre so good to visit is Sue. She's so helpful, friendly , polite and always has a smile on her face . Separate your waste people, it's a "recycling" center NOT a tip !!!
Would be 5 stars but always room for improvement in facilities.

A very useful site for recycling, especially larger items. However, the staff are not helpful and the opening times are quite restrictive.

I must say that access to this site is quite dangerous as there is oncoming traffic from another yard as you enter or leave the site. Then you have to negotiate a rather severe sleeping policeman (no not the staff lol) that you hit at an angle and it really throws you and your car all over the place. Hands up if you think it really would be a fantastic idea to have a map on the website showing the position of skips and what goes in them so that we can load up as necessary and cause less disruption trying to get back to a skip you passed because you had other stuff on top. I can't believe that this hasn't been thought of but probably nobody can be bothered. Give the job to the lady taking pictures of the contents of my boot as she seems really keen. I'm wondering whether I should challenge her about it as no permission is sought or explanation why she does this. Recycling is the way to go of course and most people try their best to do as much as they can to sort it before turning up at the centre so can do without feeling like I did something wrong simply for turning up there.
