Once upon a time, Herefordshire Council was a beacon for good public transport information. Maps, timetables, comprehensive updates. Now it's just a shadow of its former self and no information at all about a raft of changes happening in parts of its area on 1st September. Hopeless and embarrassing. Not sure how the Council expects to encourage modal shift to buses if it can't get the basics right or in one helpful place (NOT Traveline).

I am born and bred in Hereford in 1964. I live away but have returned regularly ever since to see family.
Every time I return I feel very sad to see the town how it is now; empty shops and streets that look tired and dirty.

One of the saddest things, for me, and the reason I had to write, is the lack of flowers. As a child, even at a very young age, I remember how pretty the Castle Green was, the flowers beds at the Victoria Bridge and many other places with baskets around.
I still vividly remember the road leading to Steels, all along bright stunning flowers. Now High Town and all the places around are frankly a mess and it is worse than having no flowers.

I am sure you will say it is cut backs lack of funds but, while it may seem a small thing and low down the list of priorities, it actually gave the town pride in itself and made people proud of their City and cheered them up. I know it did me and my family.

On a hot sunny day on 13th June 2022 à Herefordshire Council tree fell onto my car whilst I was driving towards Shobdon from Mortimer’s Cross!!!! To say I was shocked and upset is an understatement - the damage caused 10k worth of damage to my car and was off the road from that date until November, causing me further expense and upset. I had to suddenly find £600 for my insurance excess even though it wasn’t my fault and my insurance premiums went up because although Herefordshire CC admitted it was their tree (!!!) of course they wriggled out of paying me any compensation or even apologising - all because their staff had apparently checked the trees 4 days beforehand !!!!! Unbelievable !!!!! Well they didn’t do a very good job did they !!!!!!!

Congratulations to the Herefordshire Council bin employees (waste management) who have been awarded the highest accolade in Britain. The award is for being the most useless, lazy, and refusing to move bins unless they are within an inch of when they stop to empty them. They leave a trail of rubbish on the roads if they drop anything out of an over full wheelie bin.

My 15 year old son was offered some work for the summer holidays - an opportunity to learn new skills, improve his cv and earn a bit of extra cash. Due to his age we had to apply for a permit at the start of the summer holidays..... Almost 7 weeks later and we have still haven't heard anything. Emails are ignored (aside from one in the first few days to confirm they had received the application), phone calls always go to answer machine and messages requesting a call back are never returned. Now he has to return to school and has missed his opportunity. Hereford Council are an absolute waste of space!!

Everyone encourages recycling. I booked a slot in Ross on Wye recycle centre, filled up our personal car with recycling materials and went to the centre. I waited until the technician there found my appointment.......then told me I needed a permit as my vehicle was commercial. I opened the boot and side doors to show him the seats in the back but he would not even consider the possibility that people have vans with windows as personal vehicles!!! I couldn't recycle. We wonder why we see materials left around the town!

I’m writing review as we readily complain about a service and rarely compliment. I recently contacted waste management regarding an urgent problem as I am caring for my poorly twin. I cannot rate highly enough Lisa Daley. She fully understood the urgency of my problem escalated it to management and together they found a solution. Lisa continued to work tirelessly to ensure the waiting time was reduced and expedited the delivery. Thank you so much Lisa and the waste management team.
