These guys are all so awesome! They are there to help you! Do not abuse the system please! Also you NEED to book an appointment before you go!!! If you have any doubts about 'materials'/waste - call them FIRST. Great location, very easy to get in and out. Don't forget to book your appointment though! I did see several people turned away!!

Booked appointment but was running late so phoned and spoke to a very polite guy called Kevin, who just said no worries we'll still help... and help they did! As I was unloading my car a young lad came over and helped...even tho I'm perfectly capable ... I think his name was Freddie? Actually made for a pleasant trip especially on such a hot day. Thanks guys very much appreciated ?

The staff will not accept you if you try to walk in (no car) and are extremely inflexible if you come without knowing this (even if the appointment is booked). You'll just be asked to go back with the recyclables.

To the staff who don't want to help - I wish you to always have all rules applied to the letter to you.

To the Hampshire County Council, well done with all the rules. No wonder people fly tip.

To the kind man who agreed to help out, but could not fit my box into his car due to the kid chair - I appreciate the offer and I wish all the best to you and your family.

A dumpster for pretty much every conceivable kind of recycling!

There are also places for donating clothes, recycling small electronic appliances and gadgets, and dumping batteries and bulbs safely.

Many friendly staff who helpfully direct you to which bin is best for your stuff, with the last resort being the two for rubbish (either for generating power in an incinerator or lastly, going to landfill).

The booking website at Hampshire County Council has a few too many clicks for the process but is easy enough to nab a timeslot.

Sometimes, there's a queue of cars to get in, but it moves along at a good pace.

There is a shop where reasonable quality items others have donated are for sale (furniture, records, outdoor benches, etc).

The site is kept very tidy, and safety is taken seriously (gates close off bins when they're being packed down or transported).

Walking into the site is not allowed (unsure if cargo bikes are, but saw no signs saying explicitly that they aren't, just a sign about no walk-ins).

I have bee coming here for many years. Recently I complimented the manager for the politeness and professional presentation of his staff. Last year during freezing conditions I would bring up a few coffees for the crew, such was my experience of this business.

Now beware of the power of the clipboard!!

I was booked in this morning, the man checked that my car was registered , no worries there . Then I started off loading the contents of my car. Clipboard man spotted a handful of tiles, informed me that they are classed as rubble and that therefore were a chargeable item. I asked how much, the instant reply was £3. I didn’t have any cash on me, however, clipboard man knew that I was was booked in later in the day. I asked to bring the £3 then. The reply was ‘bring the £3 with you along with the tiles. Nice touch. However my main point is, if something is chargeable then presumably it is charged by weight. No scales were used , just an arbitrary glance and then a price offered . I have no idea of what the trading standards position would be on this , I am just saddened at where we are as a society today when 6 broken tiles that fit in the palm of one hand can be of such great importance and value ‘ to someone’ that it spoils what was a nice working relationship.
