My car failed its MOT and required some welding work. I rang and spoke to Mathew smith who was polite and courteous and explained why it had failed. He told me to bring the vehicle in to look at it and to give me an estimate.
He was very thorough and had taken pictures of the rotten metal on the sills etc. I agreed to have the work done. I took the car to him Monday 25/03/25 at 0800 and collected it at around 4pm the same day. Great job done by him in fact a first class job so pleased I went to Vulcan, nice staff genuine not pushy never felt robbed don’t hesitate if you want any welding done.
Took my car back today to my local garage and the MOT guy who passed it today said it was the best job he’d seen. Car passed 25/03/25

I first brought my car to them for a clicking noise which i suspected was the CV Boot front left wheel. They instructed me it was one of the arms that needed replacing, i was charged roughly £300. Not long after having the work done the car was making serious mechanical noises that resulted in my having to get the car towed back to where i was staying, i did some driving and took it back to them, this time i believe it was a roll bar that had gone, to add to this i was still having clicking noises coming from the car. I paid them roughly another £200 to get this issue resolved. the clicking came back. This time i was really frustrated and disappointed bringing it in a third time. Not only was this taking time out of work i desperately needed, but I wanted to give up. They informed me they now knew what the clicking noise was and instructed me to pay roughly £400 to fix it. I could not afford this after spending around £500 with them already, they then informed me there is still an £80 charge for diagnosing the issue, i refused and they would not give me my car back, i had to get a friend to pay as i just did not have the money. Twice before i took it to them, paid for parts to resolve and issue they did not fix. In my honest opinion they seem genuine and work hard, a lot of their reviews are good and this is just my experience that i felt needed to be shared.

Always taken my cars to Vulcan and they have always been happy to help, diagnosed issues quickly and made the appropriate repairs in a good time frame. They have a welcoming reception area for you to wait in if necessary, with hot drinks provided. Front of house are always friendly and helpful. Technicians explain the work they are doing and always ask for approval before completing any additional work that may be required if a further issue is found whilst work is being completed. Quotes are provided prior to the work being completed meaning you are fully informed about what will be done to the vehicle. I’ve had MOT’s, services, repair works, tyres, electrical work and more done at the garage.

I wouldn't take my car anywhere else and the same goes for family members. I know they will be honest with diagnosis and cost. Reliable with the work and carrying it out as quickly as possible. I've had work on the engine, n/s/f door and all my MOTs there. It's nice to have found a garage I can trust.

As a current workshop lad I know what some garages can be like but the lads at Vulcan do a thorough and detailed job whether that be servicing/tyres/brakes & MOT’s, I’ve personally taken my car and previous cars there since moving to Lincoln and never had a problem. All the work I’ve asked for and bits they have found have been carried out at a standard that anyone would be proud of completing.
