Having had our glass recycling missed by the council due to technical issues I thought I would take it myself to the recycling centre along with some cardboard to be recycled. I drove round only to find myself back where I started !! I asked a member of staff where the glass recycling was and he said I had gone past it - he told me to pull over and he took the box of glass bottles and jars together with cardboard from the boot of my car and did it for me. Which a lovely helpful man I didn’t get his name but what a real credit to the centre - Thank You so much

Wild West! The general attitude towards the public is one of confrontation, antagonism, agression, nonchalance, judgement and assumptions. There are a few good eggs but each visit remains consistently anxiety provoking, especially as a female. The staff focus is on talking and looking down at people as though they are the actual rubbish. Fair play for the consistent training in staff making people feel like the dirt, clever twist as a unique selling point. And to the person who responds to the repeatedly negative reviews about staff - when are you going to focus your answers on solutions such as responsibility, policy and transformation? I would recommend a good place to trigger creating change would be sending most of the staff off to be recycled in the hope they can learn to make a more positive contribution to society.

Useless. Used to open early in in summer and later in winter. Now opens at 9am whatever season, and closes by 5pm latest. Give the contract back to a company that can offer opening hours after people finish work instead of running it from mediocre council office.

We pay for a commercial tip license and the tip closes at 5pm. However on 4 occasions we arrive at 16:45 and they have locked the gates, yet they still allow non commercial in. This is very bad for businesses trying to make a living, they really don't care! It seems in many ways BCP do not support small businesses.

Just had such an odd interaction here.

First time using this site as we're new to the area.

Turned up and met a man at the entrance who just gave us a blank stare and silence. I asked what they needed, thinking maybe ID or to check the vehicle (as I drive a camper van and people have historically wanted to check contents). We were then met with semmi aggressive interrogation like questioning about "what the vehicle was"?

I had no idea how to answer. Do you want make? model? use? color? All the time being met like I'd just been caught trying to dump trade waste or something.

I was eventually told that because it had a bulk head it wasn't allowed in. If that's the rule that's fine, but we had to interrupt this interrogation just to say that this was fine as a reason and ask to leave.

We laughed the whole way home about how odd the experience was, it could have been so simple and he made it so long, strange and confrontational.

In the future just saying
"sorry, you need to register if you're vehicle with us if it has a bulkhead' would have been grand and we'd have left without question.

Or simply look in the back to see its a campervan with a single bag of glass bottles and make an informed decision.

Date of visit was PM 21/04/24

Ignorant, miserable staff bar one and guess what, he wasn't English. If they don't want to be there go get another job... Questioned as to why I had so many florescent tubes to dispose of, "don't know why you've got so many of them" said the miserable employee would have happily paid there and then for them to take them but no. Previous reviews seem correct.
Went to b&q and discovered a fluorescent tube recycling point. No questions asked, most helpful staff, not a problem at all. Makes me wonder where my council tax money goes?
