Have used this place for years as I live in North Tyneside. Went today with a car full of stuff only to find out that I couldn't use it anymore and now have to use the one in North Shields.
Time to get the chiminea out of storage.

Local, always open recycling centre.
It gets fairly busy at weekends & there can be a wait just to get in, best time to go is through the week if possible. Canny bunch of lads always happy to help & advise on what goes in which part of the recycling process.

Trips to the Tips: A Positive Experience with Top Tips for Newcastle City Council Management teams.

I recently visited the Brunswick and Walbottle recycling sites in Newcastle, and I must commend the exceptional customer service I received from the staff. As a first-time visitor dealing with some chronic health issues, I was a bit apprehensive, but the staff went above and beyond to make the experience a positive one.

At the Brunswick site, a gentleman named David immediately noticed my great nephew and I struggling with a large, heavy dumpy bag. Without hesitation, he lent a hand, safely and efficiently transferring the contents into the appropriate skip. His friendly and professional demeanour immediately put me at ease, and I was grateful for his kindness during a trying time due to my health problems.

The experience at the Walbottle site was equally positive. I was greeted at the gate by 'Young Chris', who provided a warm welcome and clear guidance on where to dispose of my waste. When I struggled to lift the heavy bag out of the car, Chris promptly came to my assistance, helping me complete the task with ease. His can-do attitude and willingness to help a resident in need was truly commendable.

Both David and Chris demonstrated exceptional customer service, making me feel valued and capable, despite my physical limitations. Their approachable and professional manner is a testament to the quality of Newcastle City Council's workforce. I left the recycling sites feeling uplifted, rather than burdened, thanks to the outstanding support I received.

I cannot thank David and Chris enough for their kindness and for making what could have been a stressful experience into a positive one. Newcastle City Council should be proud to have such dedicated and empathetic employees representing their services. I would encourage the council to consider using David and Chris as models for customer service training, as their approach is truly exemplary.

This is normally a well-managed facility I sometimes use to dispose of household waste (broken appliances/furniture etc). Staff on the site are generally helpful. It’s a great service for residents and the Newcastle upon Tyne showed good judgement in keeping it open despite the economic challenges. I just wish they consistently opened it on time. It’s 9:15 am on a Monday as I queue in my car outside and the gate remains closed with no one to be seen being in charge.

There is always queues for this small waste and recycling centre. Recycling options are very limited compared to other council waste sites.

We came there to get Reid of some stuff and we didn't know that there was a height restriction in place. The man there was just so unhelpful, and couldn't even give us an answer if it meant we can't always or if we can go to another sight. Just attitude.

Middle of the day and still queues, plus gates were closed the gate to change a skip, sat there for 30 minutes at a minimum. Bins are poorly labelled so have to ask where everything goes, the lads were helpful at least.
