Utter chaos queueing to get in, up the hill and from Ashcimbe Road end. Half the drivers in the queue didn’t even want the tip, so risked an accident driving up to Ranmore on the wrong side of the road. Sunday morning at 11.00 and waiting in the queue 2 tip lorries which need the whole place vacated before entering. Why can’t they come on the days the tip is closed.

Inconveniently only open on Friday-Sunday until 4? What about the rest of the week?

On top of our bins only being collected every second week, it’s a really bad system.
I had to drive all the way to the leatherhead one, which is a good distance away if you have multiple trips and it was very busy with a queue to get in.
The council just needs to be better. It’s 2023. We shouldn’t still be stuck with literal rubbish.

With only Friday & weekend opening, this recycling centre is clearly targeting small loads of domestic waste and does so admirably.

Occasionally, there is a 20-minute wait while full containers are swapped out, and this can cause tailbacks on the road from Dorking.

Unbelievable how the council has systematically downgraded the service here over the past few years such that it’s now regularly closed ( a rough sign at facility contradicts website) and that accept very little of use to residents. Assume they’re trying to get it closed permanently by reducing use through frustration?

What a pleasant experience! The guys at Dorking are polite and helpful. They are pro active and suggest the best places for people to put their waste. What a contrast to sullen, unhelpful throng of men gathered around entrance at another Surrey site that made me feel wholly uncomfortable and unwelcome a few days before. Well done Dorking.

I agree that the council is running this place down. The centre processes fewer materials, opens shorter hours and then Mole Valley DC can close it altogether and sell it for a housing development. The residents of Dorking will then have to drive miles to the Leatherhead tip - not the most environmentally friendly solution, but the council will rake in the cash. A win for them and a loss for the residents.

Pointless now that there is no land-fill container. The council have been trying to run this place into the ground for a while now. Write to Mole Valley and complain!
