Wes Streeting announced on 1st Oct 2025 that all GP’s Surgeries would allow the online booking of appointments. I’ve tried today and there’s nothing ie no appointments at Garforth Medical Practice other than phlebotomy. What’s the point in a big government announcement when the Practices are clearly not complying.

You quickly come to understand just how broken the nhs system is attempting to use this medical practice. Try to get an appointment - you will be told a weeks wait if you are lucky. They will tell you to call each morning at 8am - most times you will be told the queue is full via automated response and cut off. Today I called at 8am and after being rejected three times by said automated message, was lucky enough to get onto the actual queue (position 30) waited and waited and finally got through. No appointments for today, next one in a weeks time, or call back tomorrow at 8am for an on the day appointment, and so the charade continues...
On another note, if you are waiting for test results do not expect them to call you with them, even if there is something wrong. The results will have been sent to an app (that you are not told you need to check yourself). They consider this to be 'patient informed' of the results - and if you are lucky enough to speak to Sam on reception he will tell you that 'patients have to take responsibility for their own health'...

The practice is clearly struggling and needs looking at anew. How many people who see a dr sit waiting patiently for a call that never comes with regards to results and next steps?

They are very busy, you can’t book an appointment in advanced and the receptionist is triaging the calls. “if it’s not urgent, we can’t book an appointment for you”. Every single day it’s the same story. I will not recommend this medical centre.

The way the reception staff speak to patients is unacceptable. I recently witnessed a phone call between reception staff and a patient where she was greeted with ‘have you not listened to the message? We are already full today’ after calling to see if I was able to get a call back from the doctor. The lady also made a few other comments and her attitude was awfull. She is elderly and has been at this doctors all her life and I must say it’s really gone down hill. I really do hope there phone calls are recorded and someone monitors them as no where else would accept this behaviour. Very disappointing.

If I could give negative stars then I would. After my husband was discharged from hospital excellent care for sepsis we were directed to GP for ongoing injections and dressing changes. So contacted surgery to be told emphatic NO . Not helpful and certainly a safeguarding concern.

My experience is very limited as I've not needed to see or speak with a GP since moving to this area in July this year. I can only say how impressed I've been with the repeat prescription service. To be able to request an item and collect it the following day is a minor miracle compared with my last GP in South Worcestershire!
Thank you very much to all concerned in running such an efficient service.

I am so pleased with the treatment myself and my daughter have received at Garforth Medical Centre. Whenever we've needed to see someone, the reception staff have booked us in for an appointment that same day. All the staff are lovely; we are especially happy with the genuine care shown by the doctors- whenever we visit they all make a fantastic effort with my little girl to make her feel comfortable there and they have even followed up with us the next day to ensure she is okay. I feel lucky to have them.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I have been with GMC for over 2 years and in that time have had NOTHING but issues. Receptionist are often very rude and seem to think they also are medical professionals which, they very much are not. Practice manager made the decision that only 2 of the GPs are equipped to deal with my medical condition however these two doctors are never available. Practice manager also hung up on me twice today mid sentence.

Doctors also seem to be clueless and blame the most bizarre things on mental health before trying to write you an SSRI prescription that you likely don’t need. They claim to put through referrals that never come through only to check your medical records to find the referral was never made or that if they did put through your referral they left out vital information meaning the referral is denied. I have even had a doctor tell me my audible heartbeat was “just anxiety but should head to A&E anyway”

I can’t stress how little I would recommend this surgery, especially to those who require an accessible environment or have any long term care needs. Also the surgery refuses to use my preferred pronouns and despite original requests to be seen by a gender therapist in 2022 the referral has yet to be sent off, this is not a Trans friendly surgery.
