Home ground used to be the best of surgeries. I was also a patient sometime ago and was. Very vexed when I moved to an area outside of their control.
However, my elderly parents are still there. Just trying to cancel a simple Appointment for
Them earlier turns into a mammoth task, make the call and listen to all the rigmarole of options, press 2 to cancel etc. it doesn’t do anything g and kept in loop reusing to main menus to listen to it all again! I chose option 1. For the ‘assistant’, and. Cancelled the appointment. The elderly are not bothering to book as it’s so stressful for them, is this a deliberate ploy Homeground? It’s a useless and appalling service and I hope you scrap it and look at what other surgeries do that is working!

This online booking is an absolute joke. I feel sorryfor the peoplethat dont use their phones like the elderly and people like me who struggleto read , i explainedthis when i rang up that i struggle with reading but said I can only book online now . I had to get my neighbour to help me as i struggle to read ,I couldn't believe how many qestions I had to answer just for a uti, then when I finally got to then end of all the question (took over 15mins) it told me i need urgent treatment and then i had to say why i wouldn't go to the hospital, i then had to wait for upto 2 days for a response, I ended up just going to the pharmacy in the end to get antibiotics

As if the phone system was not bad enough. This online booking system is totally worse. It is like jumping out the fire and into another hotter fire.
I do not know how the elderly and those who cannot use a computer will manage. This system is too long winded. Leads you to a point where they say no appointment needed. This should make the GP's lives easier and faster. More time for them to be at home or out playing golf or whatever recreational interests they have. Whilst leaving patience who need to see a doctor unable to see one.

This is an excellent surgery. No idea why it’s only got 2.5 stars. They are efficient and professional. Whoever is in charge of managing this survey they doing an amazing job. We’ve been with them for nearly four years and where other surgeries struggled to meet demand post covid, North Swindon took it in their stride and adjusted how they worked - used their pharmacist and mental health nurses to take up the slack and other strategies to keep wait times down.
Someone else complained that the first thing they say when answering the phone is ask for the patient’s date of birth, saying this is rude. I disagree, they are trying to get a job done in the most efficient way possible.

Updated review following new booking system.

Yes the new system in place is a bit unfamiliar, but the result was fantastic. Offered an appointment link the morning after filling in the form the previous evening. Booking was simple. You can book a practice and/or a doctor and pick your time.

A real improvement for me over the 8am pile in.

Absolutely loved this doctor’s until Covid hit now it’s pointless. My poor daughter has been trying to get an appointment for a week plus. and guess what still can’t get one . Her illness is limiting her life .

This practice is extremely helpful and I am completely satisfied with their service. Getting an appointment can get tough at times but they do try to adjust you. Receptionists are so sweet and polite, they really care about you. Dr Petrie is the sweetest doctor I have ever met; so helpful, listens to you, give you full time, makes sure you are satisfied, give you the best treatment, wouldn't wait for so many appointments if referral needs to be sent..I can never thank her enough..

Trying to book an appointment is challenging
However I personally have been well looked after by Dr Stainton & his team, I’ve had three major operations for cancer, and recently total knee surgery, and really needed them on my side for extreme pain control.
