Very helpful staff if you can get in there. The gates are often shut for whatever they need to do (emptying something I presume ) but that doesn’t seem to happen at any particular time of day. 3 out of the past 4 times I’ve been I’ve had to come back another time so don’t assume you can quickly nip in there and do what you need to do. I’ve tried ringing before to make sure they are open but just goes to the council general refuse line and you won’t get a word of diligence or sense out of them so don’t bother.

Very good set up. Even when they were concerned with my trips there with rubble they were very polite.

Opening times say 8h30 on Saturday. Arrived at 9, gates were closed. At 9h25 I get out and asked what was going on. The bins were being emptied and the only visible sign is ON the gate. I said it would be better to have a sign a the top of the road.
" Not my issue" was the answer.
We are paying council tax for that horrendous service.

Really rude woman taking in donations in the Re-use Shop today. The rest of the team are usually nice and friendly but we won't be going back there again. Will recycle goods to help others elsewhere in future.

For the recycling offered, it is good. Good sized off-loading bays, good arrangement. There is no recycling of hard plastics. The first 1.5 hours of each day is for staff to open the site and for trucks to remove the waste from the previous day. Since management publishes incorrect times, there is always a queue whilst the opening activities take place.

I always think I am a lucky person. 3rd time of visiting Hove Recycling and the Gates yet again are shut. Admittedly it’s 10.05 on a Sunday morning, what did I expect. Did they see me coming? I am lucky I guess, I have only 1 bag of garden waste. I am wondering could there be something more to this than meets the eye. Maybe it’s a universal/spirit lesson to either teach me to arrive earlier (would the gates have been shut at 9am?) Maybe I am not manifesting in the right way. Maybe, I expect the tip to be shut and so I get what I expect. Maybe I should expect it to be open. Maybe this is all about teaching me patience. I upped my review from 2 to 3 stars, because the staff are lovely. I wonder what they are doing behind the gates. Even an inkling of the exact time the gates would be open would be much appreciated- so with love and gratitude, please please read this review and take some action.
