Friday 30th August 2024.

My wife stopped here today with my autistic son (you wouldn't know to look, high functioning) who collects Guinness book of records.

He has several first editions/rare runs, misprints etc. and about 25 of the years so far. His rarest is £££s first edition 1955 (it's not called a 1st edition, but it is the first run). I collect old map books of empirical or oriental origin. Several are not insignificant.

So when we popped our head in this book store to see if they had any that we might be able to invest in, we got a very snooty "we don't sell that type of book here (he may as well have said we don't sell your type of book here)". It was very clear we were not welcome to look around. We were in holiday gear and were judged as we walked in. Without a doubt.

Shame that some people still judge by their perception of elevated status.

For the record, this is the first time I've ever written a review like this. Really disappointed.

Outstanding service. I have ordered twice for shipment to Dubai and both times the books arrived superbly wrapped and within two days. Thanks Tom! I’ll certainly order from you again.

A very cool old bookstore. I only know them from online. I really enjoy watching their video presentations of the rare books.

Though I’m not sure where the guy (Tom?) that does them went recently. He’s very knowledgeable & interesting. Hopefully they get him back.

But it’s a really impressive bookstore.

I ordered a book on English wood engraving. It arrive very promptly and so beautifully packed it was a pity to open the parcel. It is heart-warming to deal with a bookseller who clearly loves and cares for his books so well.

I've ordered three books from Jonkers, on two separate occasions. Elizabeth & Jessica handled my order with professionalism and kindness. The books were packaged very securely and arrived in the promised condition (UK to America).
I look forward to continuing to grow my collection through the care of Jonkers

Ordered a book to be shipped to the US.
I was helped by Tom throughout the process, and he was great. The book, a 129-years-old example, arrived in one piece and was perfectly packaged. Great customer service and great product.
Absolutely great! Looking forward to adding another of their examples to my collection.
