Bins in Crosland moor haven't been emptied for 2 weeks. And are frequently missed. This has led to an increase in rats which are seen daily running in and out of the bins. WHY ARE WE PAYING COUNCIL TAX ?

Having now lived in Kirklees I can honestly say it has one of the worst waste collection services that I have ever come across.
The recycling is just awful. One general bin per household unless you have six people. We have three under three and had to fight to get a second general waste bin ‘temporarily’. And a generic recycling bin - do not get me wrong, you can have extra of those…. Only, they do not recycle glass, certain plastics, common things like cardboard juice cartons. But they do handily provide you with a leaflet explaining all the things they don’t recycle. It’s quicker to list what they will actually take.
Then there is garden waste. Can have a recycling bin. For a premium. That you have to apply for. So, all those houses not recycling garden waste or food waste because to do so is a premium service you have to pay them for.
And my favourite is the local recycling centres. They are hilarious, they take nothing. Where we lived previously, you could recycle anything. Household appliances, rubble (within reason), mattresses, garden waste. You could have extra bins - they had a bin for everything. It was a real shock to the system moving here to such a poor service.
I began to understand why beauty spots in the area have such an issue with fly tipping, it’s just a shame the council cannot make that connection.
And again today is bin day and the road is once again littered with rubbish because the two young lads who have emptied the bins have dropped it onto the road, looked at it, discussed it, and walked away leaving the road a disgusting mess.
This review will make no difference to an already broken system, and having fought the council for an extra bin I know firsthand how they just don’t care to offer a better service inline with other councils.
So much for encouraging people to recycle.

We have suffered all year with missed collections. Now when contacting Kirklees Council to find out why, they tell me that it’s due to parked cars, this is why the bin truck is unable to reach our address. Under normal circumstance this would have been enough but, when a bin waggon rolls up the road to collect business waste regular, you have to question this. Today I thought we were going to have the mountain of rubbish that has built up from lack of collections, but no, they only went to the private paying business. Can you imagine breathing that sigh of relief only to see the bin truck look at the rubbish on the way past it. I will be asking Kirklees Council for my fuel or a discount on the Council Tax bill as I am having to make trips to the local tip to try and avoid rubbish bean on the floor, witch is making it far too easy for the RATS. This is not fun and yet this is what we pay for. I wonder how long it would take Kirklees Council to start with the threaten letters should I not pay my council tax bill. If this was happening at the address of one of the council members I bet it would have been sorted out months ago.

Kirklees Council, pull your socks up. This is not acceptable.

Just dump all the bins at the bottom of the drive so no one can get out. THANKS lads ? Is it too difficult to put them back where you got them from?

I put my green bin out for collection today. By the side of it was a new, dry,, cardboard box approximately 90cm x 90cm. As we are encouraged to recycle, recycle, recycle to be green and save the planet, I fully assumed they'd just pick it up and throw it in the recycling vehicle. I got home tonight to find they'd just left it by the side of the emptied bin!!! So tell me, is that encouraging me to recycle? No! Should I now fill my green bin with this box and then it will be full for 2 weeks until it's emptied again which will mean I'll have to put everything I could recycle in my grey bin to go to landfill. I could always drive to Thornhill tip if that's an item the recycling centre WILL still allow (as so much is not permitted). Can someone please tell me what my increased council tax costs are actually funding when the recycling staff won't even take a cardboard box left in the correct place on the correct day. What a joke these people are!!! They should be ashamed of themselves!!!

We should withhold council tax until they sort it as we're not getting what we pay an extortionate amount for. They're just taking us for a ride. It really is "rubbish"! Barely ever collect what they're supposed to, so after you go to the effort of dragging all your rubbish up a flight of stairs it's just left there. Or they'll collect some without collecting it all! they don't leave enough bags for non-wheelie bin collections so you end up having to use other bags which they won't take! No idea what we're paying council tax for if the bins aren't done properly, they won't control parking, the roads aren't maintained properly and the office staff are totally unhelpful.

The perfect job for work-shy men!!…
My partner has complained time & time again about her disabled (housebound) father’s bin not being emptied in Batley.

Last week I left a barbecue box behind our green bins because it wouldn’t fit in & the only reason that it got taken is because I called after the bloke that was walking away & leaving it.
Today our grey bin hasn’t been emptied, suppose the excuse is that it’s been too warm for the poor lads to work while the rest of the country has.

Why am I working in blazing hot weather to pay my taxes… oh, that’s right, I’m not work-shy!!
I can feel some fly tipping coming on, right outside the refuse centre gates, when I’m not at work that is!!
