Dear Sir or Madam
Following my phone call to customer services at LCC, I am writing to put in a complaint regarding the operatives at Louth recycling centre. We are regulars to using the tip, mainly for wood and garden waste and we have noticed in the past couple of years how badly it is being run. But today was paticularly bad. When we arrived with our garden waste at 11. 45 am we noticed the green waste bin was packed people were trying to use a spade to pack it down, it clearly needed crushing but the 2 operatives were at the far end on the bins eating drinking and chatting, we called to them as it needed crushing they had obviously not been keeping and eye on the overloading. We were ignored as they then went on to inspect their phones. Eventually one took heed and sauntered up to crush the green waste. By this time as bin was obviously overpacked there was a line of about 8 people waiting to use the bin and more coming in. The crusher took about 10 minutes as it was so overpacked... At this point more and more people arrived in line. Out of the 2 operatives one deigned to instruct people where to put their recycling when he could be bothered... Then climbed into a hopper to stamp down whatever was in there.... Not great health and safety.... The recycling centre used to be so well looked after, swept up to avoid punturing tyres etc now it is a disgrace... The lacklustre in the way they do their jobs no wonder the recycling percentage has drastically reduced...
If I had had my phone I would have taken photos of their behaviour. If they cannot take pride in their work move on... I'm sure many could do with a job.
I would glad to hear your thoughts on this matter and any action you will be taking.

Normally I have no problems going, today it was very very busy which panicked me, hardly any staff on, and when 2 did arrive they were rather loud saying don't people have anything better to do or hobbies..... if you helped people with their rubbish then maybe the queue will go down faster and it wouldn't feel so stressful

I drove all away from biscathorpe on Tuesday and got at the tip on the dot of 15:50. Ther was a Yong big lad there shutting the gates. I stop got out and ask what ya doing it isn't 4 o'clock. The lad told me that they close at 10 to 4 to let people out of the site. Let me tell ya there was not even a brid on site let alone another person that wasn't the staff. In this I ask what time they would be open tomorrow and I was told they wasn't open tomorrow. After this he walked off laughing with some other lad. So I thought they where joking. I got there on Wednesday at around 2ish and the gates was closes and I am sitting outside of the site right now waiting for someone to come but it seems like they ain't coming. I am a 87 year old family framer I work hard and only to get disappointed like this. I even bought the gran kids with me thinking they would enjoy the day out. Just very unprofessional and lazy if you ask me. Back in ma old day we would of been out there working though piss 12 hours a day 7 days a week. No wonder this gen is soo lazy. Sorry for bad picture. It was very busy but unloaded all my rubbish and was on my way home within 20 minutes. The staff are all very helpful and friendly.

Arrived 3.50pm. Entrance and exit gates being closed. Staff member informed it stated that on the website, and that They are not insured after 3.50pm for unloading.

Checked...website states it may close at 3.50pm to allow cars to leave the site.

I called the staff from the office at the entrance gate...female operative in a car (doing nothing towards assisting site operations) shouted 'we're closed' and at length the laughter from the site office ceased and 3 lads appeared. Challenged the same operative about insurance statement...he had nothing other than stating it 'says 3.50pm on the sign'...which it doesn't. Shout of 'crack on soldier' and sniggering heard from another member of staff pretty much sums up that the website needs amending to: -

'This site may close at 3.50pm to allow site team to knock off early and avoid helping anyone after this time as we can't be bothered....oh and we reserve to right to provide false information to back that claim up'.

I came all the way from Mablethorpe and that the only vehicle I have high camper van and the site would not let me to drop off rubbish only few 3 bags and a camper van fridge that is all ! That easily why people dump fly tippers ! Felt very disappointed!

Unhelpful staff. They can see you need help but scuttle off and hide to avoid being asked.
Don’t expect any help from staff. It’s no wonder fly tipping is on the increase around Louth as the tip is only open certain days and not after 3.50pm, pathetic service.
