I had to write this as I am astounded at the laziness of staff. They don't appear to do anything( except stand around talking). What happened to the good old days when they actually helped you? I don't know how they sleep at night..literally!
The staff will be on an amazing civil service pension- paid by taxpayers. You might as well employ volunteers or people doing community service and save the council some money.

BEWARE... you can access the site but then access to the actual skips is closed whenever wagons arrive to take away full ones and swap out for empty ones. The same happens when rubbish in the skips needs compacting down and they get the resident bulldozer out. This can take 30 minutes (no joke, sadly). If you are unlucky enough to be stuck within the site in the single-file queue, you are stuck. The staff show no urgency to get you moving again.

Management need to get a grip of this Health & Safety overkill. There are easy workarounds that would speed things up yet still be within guidelines.

Also, the regular skips are each up a flight of stairs (except hardcore etc) and staff offer no assistance (H&S again!!).

To cap it all, the staff are just generally miserable.

Never again. I'll go the extra 5 miles to Cottam, Preston, in future. None of the above is an issue there. Much nicer site.

Poorly managed, badly laid out site with long delays caused by the heavy plant having to use the public access area to empty skips etc. This causes traffic to queue out onto the road.

This could be easily resolved, in fact the old layout worked perfectly.

My heart dropped as I followed a lorry with a large skip onto this poorly laid out site.. The only site I've visited where the working area for moving or compacting skips is shared with the public..
So I'm stuck behind other drivers now as the working area is cleared of the public, the empty skip is off-loaded, the target full skip is picked up and moved out from its slot, and then set down. The empty skip is picked up and moved into the vacant slot. The full skip is now picked up and taken away. So after a 25 minutes delay I can now park my car and my recyling starts..
I remember the pre-covid layout which worked. Given the closure of the St Annes waste centre, the catchment area for this place must be huge yet there's been no investment in making it more efficient.

Every time I visit they make you queue for 20 mins while they smash the rubbish down or change the skips. It’s so dangerous as the traffic backs up onto the road and queues round a blind corner and narrow bridge. It’s an accident waiting to happen.

Absolutely awful - queued up way down the road. This place needs to be properly organised

Traffic backed up on the road in and out of Lytham. Not the best site for a recycling centre.

No real issues - other than when council-run it had much better, longer operating hours (we're not all retired). With the runaway council tax increases it needs highlighting that the smug council's position that allowing private businesses to run essential local services saves money is completely false! Of course the council could have saved money if they'd have slashed operating hours. Same thing happened with the local bus service - a local firm took over, realised he couldn't make the mint he thought so slashed the service just to capture the highest demand. That is not a service, neither do "Lytham Tip" offer a suitable community service. Why on earth does everything get worse year on year!?
