Stayed in Witney for my wife's birthday and stumbled upon this little gem not five minutes from our hotel. Beautiful landscape, rugged ruins and an absolute
solice from the gently passing River Windrush.

Excellent historical value. Bit of a narrow road to reach car park area. Then a small walk to area. On way there tho you walk past a lovely church. Worth popping inside to view too. You can take a stroll through meadow to River Windrush. Very soothing !

Idealic beautiful spot, by the river, away from crowds of tourists. And the ruins of the Hall are just stunning. Just trying to imagine that people built and lived here was very humbling. The Church was a privilege to see

Such a gorgeous ruin right on the river. Very well kept area surrounding the ruin, easy access and so much history and beauty to enjoy! The ruin is part of a lovely circular pub walk stopping at The Old Swan.

This place is gorgeous, it's not anywhere near the road so it's safe and it has limited parking. It's a great spot for a picnic and hide and seek/tag. The river varies in depth so be careful but the kids loved dipping their toes in. The ruins and the church are gorgeous and the kids had fun running around.

There are no facilities/toilets though so need to be mindful of that but there are bins to help keep the place litter free and tidy.

Despite its grandeur, the estate’s fortunes changed dramatically after the downfall of Francis Lovell, a supporter of Richard III, following the Battle of Bosworth in 1485. The property later passed through various owners before falling into disrepair.
Today, the ruins are managed by English Heritage and remain a popular destination for history enthusiasts and walkers exploring the Cotswolds. Visitors can wander among the atmospheric remains of the hall, admire the medieval architecture, and enjoy the peaceful riverside surroundings.
