As always Nettleham practice is the best . Doctors and nurses all amazing. Today I have seen nurse called Liza . She was so lovely and caring. Thank you so much for helping people.

I turned up at the practice this morning in person this morning because I really did want to see a doctor in person before going on holiday tomorrow. I have not yet mastered how to get an appointment since Ask My GP but this worked well for me today. I saw Dr Porter who examined me and was able to give me clear and helpful guidance for which I am grateful.

On 29th May I attended Cherry Surgery for a pre planned blood test for PSA and Liver Function?
The nurse was Kate who I hadn’t seen before and she seemed stressed and rushed,however she said she was going to be doing a Blood Pressure test first which was on my right arm and she placed the Cuff partly over my elbow,the first try she said it wasn’t working right,then tried 3 more times which gave reading so high I thought something was wrong,when she entered them onto the computer it said I had to ring my doctor to organise a medication review as it was too high.
Then whilst the sleeve was still in place,she proceeded to take blood from my left arm.When she had finished she asked me to put my finger on the cotton wool but as It was still strapped up I couldn’t bend my right arm to do it.So she panicked a bit because she already had her hands full.
She had to let go and of course I was still bleeding and I bruised badly for the next two weeks!
I subsequently bought my own BP tester and kept a note of the daily figures as I had been told that I now had hyper tension recorded on my own record due to the blood pressure on that appointment.The Pharmacist who rang me later was very understanding and explained that my record shouldn’t have been changed after checking all my results and specially after just one reading.
However,I was then booked in for a further blood test for Friday 4 th July for Kidney Function and Thyroid.It turned out that it was again Kate at Nettleham.This time she took the blood from my right arm and I was able to keep the wound well pressed this time,but when she checked it I was still bleeding,and she asked if I was on blood thinners,I said I wasn’t and she kept checking it by releasing pressure and looking every minute or so.She looked under pressure again.
So once again I bruised badly it’s now the 8th July and my arm is Bluey green.
I have never seen Kate before but something tells me she hasn’t the experience that I would expect and certainly doesn’t give confidence to the patient.
I have never done anything like this in my 72 years so I thought you should be aware.
I also never got the option on either occasion by text to review the appointment,has that now stopped?
I wouldn’t like to go through this again with Kate,so would avoid any further appointments with her.

I recently had an appointment with a nurse who I believe was called Sarah. I was very apprehensive about the appointment and had been putting it off but she couldn’t have been nicer or more supportive. She thoroughly explained each step of the appointment and what to expect afterwards. By the time I left I was so grateful to have a nurse that made something so daunting feel like a breeze. I have a number of health conditions which mean I end up needing medical care fairly regularly. In the 5 years since we moved to this area, Nettleham Medical Practice has been amazing.

I find the online system for triaging really helpful, as I can explain exactly what the issue is and I know that I will get an appointment in the appropriate time frame (sometimes that same day, sometimes a few weeks later). The call back system on the phones now is also brilliant for those times when I need to call, as I can go about my day instead of sitting on hold.

Whenever I have been seen, it is almost always by staff who are considerate of my needs and help me manage my health as well as possible. On the very rare occasion that things have not gone well, the surgery has handled my concerns with care and worked to fix the issue.

It is one of the best surgeries I've been under the care of (I've moved around a lot in the past) and I am truly grateful to everyone who works there, both clinical and admin staff. Thank you.
