I had my two children here, one during COVID and the other after. Because my first experience was incredibly good, I decided to keep returning if I have more children. Here, they really care about us and our babies. For a public hospital, the service is incredibly professional. The amount of time the lovely midwives check on us and our babies is amazing; they check every detail and even check if we have eaten. The food they provide is of good quality, and the midwives are, without a doubt, the best in the UK!

I changed address and have lots of other hospitals near me, but that's the one I will be returning to deliver my third child. I don't care how far it is. I will go there because I feel safe and cared for.

Thank you to all the incredible staff members in the maternity department, from appointments to delivery.

I had my second baby here in June 2024 and my experience with the team was nothing but positive. From the moment I went in for an induction to the recovery after an emergency c section I was comfortable and felt I was in a safe environment for me and my baby.
All of the midwives were supportive and reassuring and I couldn’t have asked for more. Truly a great team on all of the wards!
Thanks again for everything.

My experience here was wonderful.
All the staff members looked after us during all the stages of labour and after giving birth. They were professionally doing what they were supposed to do, I felt safe at this hospital. The midwives came every time when I needed something, they even brought me food while I was busy feeding my baby. Unfortunately don't remember the names of the ladies who were present at birth, but everyone did an amazing job. Thank you!!

My experience on the Samson Maternity ward was nothing but extraordinary. All of the staff from Midwifes to Porters were exceptional and I felt I was in safe and professional care at all times.

The only slight negative part of my experience was that one consultant tried to convince me to have a vaginal birth when I had planned an elected C-birth, and even though my labour had started I still wanted to progress with my planned C-birth, and had to stand firm and advocate for what I wanted.

I had my baby in March 2024 on the labour ward. What an amazing experience from start to finish. The midwives are excellent, supportive and thorough. I had such a positive birth experience! Highly recommend Princess Alexandra. Shout out to Marlena, Trudy, Charlene, Max, Anna and Abi - you were all exceptional. Thank you so much!

I am compelled to share the harrowing experience my sister has endured at Harlow Hospital following the birth of her baby. What should have been a joyous occasion has turned into an ongoing nightmare due to the appalling negligence and incompetence of the hospital staff.

Immediately after giving birth, my sister faced complications as the placenta did not detach naturally. She was subjected to a surgical procedure to remove it and was assured that all remnants had been successfully removed. Trusting their word, she left the hospital to recover and bond with her newborn. However, just five weeks later, she was back in the hospital suffering from severe cramps and heavy bleeding. To our horror, she was informed that the entire placenta had not been removed as previously stated. This necessitated a second surgical procedure, including a spinal block, all of which posed significant risks.

The risk was particularly alarming given her history of anaphylaxis from antibiotics, which had previously led to cardiac arrest and required CPR. Despite this dangerous background, she was prescribed antibiotics again, putting her at further risk of another severe reaction.

After the second surgery, the hospital assured her that the placenta was completely removed, verified by a scan. But just a week later, she was rushed back to the hospital with severe cramps and heavy bleeding. Once again, it was revealed that remnants of the placenta had been missed, necessitating yet another surgical procedure.

Adding insult to injury, the hospital presented her with multiple treatment options but advised against all of them, effectively leaving her to make critical decisions about her health and wellbeing with inadequate guidance and support. This is nothing short of disgraceful and inhumane treatment.

This chain of events at Harlow Hospital is a clear case of medical negligence at its worst. My sister’s health and peace of mind have been shattered due to the repeated failures and reckless disregard for her safety by the hospital staff. Such gross incompetence and lack of accountability should not be tolerated in any medical institution. This hospital’s actions are absolutely disgusting, and they must be held accountable for the suffering they have caused.

I have had 2 fantastic birth experiences on Birthday Unit, 2013 and 2018. The team always strived to help any way they can. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend PAH for low and high risk pregnancies.

Gave birth to my daughter on 13th August and even though my birth ended up being slightly more complicated than initially planned, all of the midwives, MCA’s and doctors were incredible. I was given the best treatment even though we were in the middle of a doctors strike. We felt so safe and looked after for the 4 days we were in the maternity unit, the Princess Alexandra and HERA midwives will always hold a special place in my heart.
