I applied for a Forklift Operator/Warehouse Operative position at Roberts Recycling Ltd via Indeed. The job was advertised as a “mixed role” – combining forklift operation (as the first part of the job title, first two points of the role’s duties and first two points of ideal candidates description) with general warehouse duties. After submitting my application, I was contacted by one of the managers who wrote:
"Let me know if you are still interested in the job. It is forklift but with other warehousing work so can be physical. We are at WA88XW. Thanks."
I confirmed my interest and was invited for a paid trial day. Upon arrival, I discovered that the actual job was completely different from what had been advertised – there were no forklift duties at all. When I raised this issue, I was bluntly told that the role does not and will not involve any forklift driving.
It became clear that the company had been recruiting solely for a warehouse operative/sorter position, and the mention of forklift work was misleading from the start. I feel deceived and disrespected. This company showed a lack of professionalism and transparency. I do not recommend them as an employer.

EDIT:
After this review was published, the same person who had contacted me at the beginning of the recruitment reached out again, forwarding this message:
"Let me know if you are still interested in the job. It is forklift but with other warehousing work so can be physical. We are at WA88XW. Thanks."
He was suggesting that it had been clearly stated that the job had nothing to do with a forklift. Shortly afterwards, this person deleted those messages, probably realising that they were compromising themselves.

Very few companies today provide a reliable service. Roberts Recycling belong to the rare breed who do offer first class customer service. I had four bags of clothes to be collected - booked online 2 days ago. Polite driver collected the bags at 7.30am today, after Roberts Recycling had informed me bags would be collected today. Daryl at the helm answered all my email enquiries quickly, professionally, competently. Five stars all round and a big thank you from a satisfied customer.

Communication was great! Had a phone call from collection driver to say when he would be here and he was exactly on the time he said.

My collection driver was friendly but professional.

I will definitely use this service again and with definitely recommending to friends and family.

The communication and wording used requires some improvements. I had to chase up all the time for a response and when I did get a response it was a case of unfortunately not interested. I am not against the result but the way how communication was handled and wording used needs improving on. I'm not sure how things would have went had they been interested in what I wanted to donate but considering the above am in a way happy that the director is "not interested". Am leaving this review so others can look elsewhere to donate their stock as this place is selective and you'll be chasing for a response.

Edit to add as response: They weren't plastic phone cases but were a mixture of phone cases - branded and unbranded, as well as other goods. Your colleague was on annual leave before he could pass on the query, when he returned he said he would pass on the query but it took some weeks and I found out only after asking. My initial query was submitted through collectmyclothes website who seemed to have passed my query to you and it does not state clothing and textiles as stock accepted on their website but that any stock can be accepted so again the communication needs improving.

Awful! Would leave 0 Stars but not able to. Arranged for a charity collection. Waited in all morning. Rang to get ETA. Told that job had not been booked in. Lady in office promised to look into it and call back... she didn’t! Called again only to be told that the driver had “just” sent her a message to say he wasn’t coming. Unprofessional service, girl in office sounded like she couldn’t be arsed. Thanks for wasting my time.

These guys went above and beyond. I had lots of items to clear to raise money for my fundraiser. They came when they said they would. I would recommend them every time. Gave us a great price compared to others

A couple of weeks ago I thought I’d thrown a bag in a clothes recycling bin with my families four passports in. I was in a total panic as I was going abroad in less than 48 hours. The nice people at Roberts Recycling were going to send someone the next morning at 8am to open the container even though they weren’t due till the following week. I live in Llandudno and I believe the recycling centre is in Liverpool. Luckily I found the passports the following morning at 7am so was able to stop them having a wasted journey. Many thanks for what you were prepared to do for me.
