I’m extremely disappointed with the way Runnymede Borough Council handled my Council Tax account.

I did not receive any notice informing me that I had a small outstanding balance of just £5.50. Instead, without warning, I was issued a court summons and a liability order, and suddenly owed £110.50 in legal and enforcement fees.

This happened despite me contacting the council in advance by email, explaining that the property was unoccupied after the sale/exchange. I followed the instructions in their previous message, which clearly stated to either call or email — and I chose to email, attaching the necessary information. I received no response at all, so I assumed the unoccupied discount and closure were being processed.

It’s completely unfair to escalate a matter like this — especially without a single follow-up, reminder, or clarification. I had already done my part, and yet I was penalised heavily for what was essentially a minor administrative balance during a time when the property was vacant.

This experience has been deeply frustrating and shows a lack of communication and consideration for residents who act in good faith.

Been waiting 9 years to get a terrible smell seen to. Badly broken gully, no end of people out etc but still a broken gully still bad smell. No further afield just passing the buck. No this isn’t down to the water company.they have been contacted. It’s a council issue, in which has been stated. It’s just not getting fixed. Going round in circles. The gully is in my garden.

Most awful council. They issued us with a penalty charge at a hospital straight after we had rushed to hospital following an ambulance with our 2 week old baby with the paramedics our baby had lost consciousness and they were worried about his breathing as he had just caught covid and was not staying awake or feeding. So when we arrived at the car park quite naturally we rushed in (and also it was the bank holiday Monday so later did not think any charges would on a bank holiday) did not think our parking and also had our three year old to contend with. Despite this the council did not think was exceptional circumstances to waive the fine. Perhaps our baby dying might have been exceptional? I think alot of people these days have lost something called common sense and decency obviously computer says no attitude! I am glad I dont live in this council if these are the muppets running the show!

I have been unfortunate enough to have had to deal with RBC on a couple of occasions and both times they were unhelpful and did not look at the evidence provided in a claims case which they denied liability and which was later proved incorrect. They had to apologise for all the inconvenience and stress caused to myself.

Do not give up as certain members of the team should not be in the position they are in and do not listen to your issues even when they are proved wrong. 0 stars would be more suitable but Google doesn’t allow this.

If other councils act like this it’s easy to understand why some are are bankrupt or near to it and they wonder why the public do not trust councils.

Having lived in Chertsey/Addlestone area for some 20 years, now moved away but I returned last weekend to visit family what has happened !!! Rubbish and litter everywhere don't people care anymore! rubbish near Aldi in Chertsey also in Addlestone near Green Lane shops, what has happened to your street cleaners

It was the same when I visited in January this year, come on what are people paying their council tax for
