I can't recommend Rob and Alison highly enough. I'm sure every situation they deal with is difficult in some way, but I needed to clear the house in which my parents had lived for fifty years, and in which I grew up, but I was flying in from Australia, and only had a week to get it done before completion of the sale. From our first conversation, Rob put me at ease, and promised to work around my schedule. Anyone who has cleared a family home knows that it's a constant battle between dealing with items that may mean a lot, and the cold, hard reality of simply getting the job done. Rob and Alison are highly sensitive to that. They worked so hard - and highly efficiently - in clearing the house, but never forgot that it was a home, and that everything in it meant something. I had packed up the items that I knew my parents loved before Rob and Alison arrived, but on several occasions they presented me with items (that I had missed) that they just wanted me to look at before they sold, donated or recycled it. Their judgement was always spot on. Their main aim was to find a good home for as much as possible, and to minimise the amount of stuff going to landfill. They successfully advertised items of furniture that charity stores won't take, and took away more to try and 'rehome' later. It's not easy watching your parents' home being methodically stripped of all of its contents, but I felt Rob and Alison struck exactly the right balance of pragmatism and empathy. Thank you, Rob and Alison, for a job superbly done.
