I’m only adding an extra star because of the positive experience I had in-store. Staff were polite and genuinely appreciative when I dropped off books and toys.

However, my experience with the collection service was extremely disappointing. I had arranged to donate several valuable items before moving abroad. The collection team arrived unprepared, without the necessary equipment, despite clear communication about the items and location. They made excuses about being on the 16th floor, even though a large lift was available and showed no willingness to make an effort.

Worse still, they were rude, confrontational, and broke a piece of furniture with deep sentimental value. They didn’t apologise or acknowledge the damage, and their aggressive behaviour left me feeling intimidated and unsafe as a woman alone.

When I contacted the charity to report this, I received no response for a week. Their eventual reply gave a vague excuse about using a different delivery service that day, with no mention of the damage or apology.

I cannot recommend their collection service, especially for large or valuable items. If you’re donating small items and can visit the store yourself, you’ll likely have a much better experience.

One star is even too much. Angelia Mccarthy was very rude to my elderly grandma and mother (80 and 60). I would like a written apology by her. Very disrespectful and was shouting. Two young men were on shift and said it was their manager. They stayed quiet as nothing they could do. A new manager is needed for the store.

I have had great experiences in that shop. I am entertained by the female manager. She was a joy to watch. Proper customer service!!
The level of customers that go to the shop, I see in the review and that not all customers can get what they want. Every time I go there it’s very busy. Patience is what’s needed, but it is worth it to get those bargains!!! Well done Croydon shop!!!

Some charity shop 'workers' are actually rude, but Not here.
