St. Lawrence's is a wonderful Anglican church with a history dating as far back as the 12th century. While the building itself is worthy of study, there are many other aspects of interest, including the "Frosterley marble" (actually black limestone...) which holds many fossils in its polished surface. The old organ is well worth a closer look too, and the stained glass windows are too good to miss.

St Lawrence's is an amazing place of peace with a warm welcoming feel much has been done to bring the church into the 21 century
And it's all credit to the PCC and church wardens who strive hard to keep this beautiful church alive
The tower is 11th century and the Church 13th century with many beautiful stained glass windows the famous Organ is very old and has much history about it and there is the tombs of Lady Anne Clifford and her mother please come and visit us sometime we will be pleased to see you !
the Parish Church is the heart and soul of any town so
Please Support your local church
Because when there gone !
So is the soul of the place they represent ! it costs a lot to keep a
Church going and all has to found by the PCC out of donations and church collections ect
I always feel sad to see a Church sold off for housing and
No ! Longer used for what they
Where intended for Generation's
Have poured their lives into
Worshiping there and dedicated their lives to keeping the Community alive ! The church is a connection to many good old local families ! And the one place you can go to Connect with them once more , so if your local Church needs your support be there for it and it will be there for you when you need it ! Blessings
Peace and love !

St Lawrence Church is well worth a visit and a walk about. There are interesting memorial plaques and the seating is in family pews rather than open seats. Enjoy the stain glass widows presentations and have a look at some of the well caved tombstones. Also be informed that George Washington the first President of USA’s father and brothers worshiped in the church
