So. What a shambles. We had booked a slot for 13:00 on a Saturday. Got there slightly early (so we were expecting a bit of a wait), and there was a queue at the 'wait here' sign. 15 minutes later, we were still waiting, so I wandered up to see what was occurring, only to find all gates closed and no sign of anyone.

Finally at 13:10 the gates are opened and we are allowed in. But this time, there were 4 cars behind us, all of which had time slots that were now in the past.

All I can surmise (as none of the staff seemed bothered to actually help anyone, let alone explain why the gates were locked) is that the staff decided amongst themselves to shut for lunch. What I would subtly suggest is staggered lunch breaks so the place is actually open when it is meant to be, and when customers have booked slots.

Will use Colchester Recycling Centre in the future.

This isn't the biggest recycling centre and the access road is narrow in place. However booking online was easy enough to do, a 5 or 10 minute queue to get to the gate was all it took. Staff member at the gate was friendly and helpful and directed me where to park. Once parked because of the small size of the site you're near every bin. I had concrete, wood, cardboard and plastic. Usually I'd be walking all over the site but the bins are so close it makes the whole process much quicker. Staff within the site were friendly and I even saw them helping a few people who were carrying heavier items. It's a thumbs up from me.

Haven't been here for a couple of years. Bit of a hold up while bin was being changed over but was kept informed on progress. Not to much trouble to help removing items from boot of car, overall a pleasant experience much better than it used to be.

Would give no stars if possible, booked for 10:00 waited in a queue for 45 minutes.
Whats the point of a booking system.
Plus was told to put batteries in non recyclables!!!!
I took these home to take to a supermarket to recycle.

What a different experience to bury recycling centre....Staff at Sudbury couldn't have been more helpful and friendly the staff at Bury could take some tips from these guys on customer service...Thanks again to the three happy workers .

We use this site quite regularly and find the booking system easy to use and a much better way than the old turn up and queue method!

A good range of things can be recycled there - ours is mostly garden waste we cannot compost, tetrapacks, waste from DIY projects on the cottage we are renovating. Staff are helpful too and we are usually in and out of the site in under 10 minutes - a really efficient system.

Great centre, the staff are always approachable, helpful and friendly. Love the booking system so no more horrendous lines of traffic waiting to get in on busier days.
