Competition overview: keeping our cities clean

The final rounds of our ‘Let’s Keep Our City Clean’ creative competitions are underway! This exciting transnational round features participation from four municipalities across three countries: Mažeikiai and Plungė (Lithuania), Paide (Estonia), and Sumy (Ukraine). The competition aims to encourage young people to think about environmental responsibility and the importance of maintaining clean and healthy urban spaces. It's a great opportunity to showcase creativity while promoting a vital message.

Age categories and creative submissions

Children aged 6-11 (or in grades 1-5) were invited to submit drawings focusing on the theme “Let’s Make Our City Clean!” Older children and youth, aged 12-19, were challenged to create short videos exploring the same theme. The diversity of entries reflects the varied perspectives and creative talents of young people across Lithuania, Estonia, and Ukraine. The project hopes to inspire similar initiatives in other regions.

Local competition rounds

The competition began with local rounds held within each municipality. The drawing competition was conducted in close collaboration with local schools, fostering engagement and participation within the educational community. Prizes were awarded at various levels: best in class, best in year, and ultimately, best in the municipality. This multi-tiered system ensured a fair and comprehensive evaluation process.

Judging process and municipal winners

A panel of judges, comprised of municipality officials and a representative from the project partner within each municipality, carefully selected the winners from the local rounds. The judging criteria emphasized creativity, originality, and the effective communication of the “Let’s Make Our City Clean!” theme. These carefully selected winners now advance to the transnational level for a final showdown.

Public voting and prizes

The final entries from each municipality are now showcased on our project Facebook and Instagram pages. The public is invited to vote for their favorite submissions. The entries from each municipality receiving the most votes will win a prize generously offered by the respective municipality’s project partner.
