I had to visit the help centre at Wandsworth to sort out a council tax problem. I have considerable disability and only walk with the help of a rollator. I will be 95 next weekend. I did not realise that I needed an appointment but I was treated with the greatest kindness and courtesy. The atmosphere was relaxed, the seating comfortable and all the surroundings cheerful and well maintained.
I was particularly impressed by the wonderful and easily accessible toilet facilities for the disabled. The day before I had been taken out to one of London's most expensive hotels and had to negotiate three steps to get there when I discovered that one of the supporting arms had jammed and was unavailable.
That hotel could take a few lessons from Wandsworth!
An official called David Lynch was particularly helpful even though I had arrived without appointment. When it came to getting transport for my journey home Anita, one of the receptionists went out of her way to ensure that my taxi turned up

I have been trying all day to report a party going on in a child's play park in Tennyson Street with youths who have brought 2 big BBQs & are smoking drugs to get he parks police but website & phone number don't work 🤦 absolute joke !! Don't want to waste police time calling 999 but have no choice ! Sooner Khan is out of his job the better

You would think that a government entity would show integrity.

Grievances are useless as they all seem tohave each others back in the end ( in my opinion) Yes you can give it over to the Ombudsman, yet it can take years to have an answer.

There isnt anyone to hold them accountable and it shows.
Getting a response can take weeks for certain departments and only after you contact them over and over again.

If i would do this at my job, i would have lost my job a long time ago.

In my opinion and from my experience, the council lacks of competent employees with integrity.
Quick to take your money but refusing to deliver.

And if you are a woman, be assured to be belittled when you speak to male employees about maintenance issues or pest control issues

Awful service. Particularly from Bola Oyabayo who has been nothing but rude, unhelpful and aggressive in every interaction I've had with her. Several others I know have told me they've had very similar experiences with this lady. Truly shocking that Wandsworth council continue to employ her.

I would like to share why this council merits only one star. We had a house there for many years in Battersea. Every attempt to improve it in terms of the smallest building works was refused whilst people all around us were miraculously given the right to build double basements with swimming pools or extend right into the back garden. It appeared to be a case of whom you knew there. As our property was a pied a terre our bank details were at a different address,. This meant that we could not get a parking permit. On our final day my car was outside the house to load it up. The parking meter had been broken for SIX MONTHS, I tried again to pay, obviously no success and there was a sign that it will be removed and everything is now by an app called RingGoGo. Which I googled. Unfortunately they are so useless that the first two apps which come up under their name are phishing sites. I duly plugged in my details thinking it was the Wandsworth app (as that is what they say they are) and had not one but two credit cards phished which I realised the moment I had my payment taken in Chinese Yuan from the first site and euros from the second. That's right, they have not one but two fake sites in their name and do not do anything about it as they probably make more money by people having the problems that I then had...... So now neither of my cards worked. My builder very kindly paid the four hours and had to rush off.
4.20 hours later I received a ticket, I ran out as it was right outside the house as he was preparing to give me the ticket and explained the situation and showed him my bank details to no avail. Afterall they work on commission and he was delighted to cause problems for someone who actually owns a house there (and paid council tax), probably a nice change from all the poor gardeners and builders who just try to earn a living.
It was my final few hours in the UK and I now had not only a parking ticket but both credit cards blocked as I was about to take the Eurotunnel.
This says everything you need to know about Wandsworth.
Their parking machine didn't work and whereas in Switzerland for example they would apologise and you would not have to pay in Wandsworth I have to pay £55 in their parking charge and £45 for each new credit card.
I will return - without the car - for a final pack-up and the irony - if I had been allowed a permit, or if their machines actually worked - they would have made more money from me. Because the car would have been parked there for a few days.
To be frank they are not the only useless council and when we bought the house they were meant to have been the best. But times have changed and I am just incredibly grateful that I have been able to leave the UK (along with most of my friendship group).
Last one there turn out the lights!!

Terrible service , Jaye smith the housing officer is terrible, been on the housing list for 10 years sent through aloud of medical documents for me and my I’ll son told “when she gets round to it” I’ll be updated to what’s happening. Been put into emergency temporary accommodation through RHP because the properly I have lived in since 2012 is not habitable , my son now has a life health condition because of this it’s taken getting doctors and hospital letters and local mp to get anywhere yet the council have still not done anything. Last month they compellty wiped me off the waiting list I had been on for 10 years because I didn’t respond to a letter they was sent to the adress where I’m not currently at. Useless useless people , shame on the council including Richmond and Twickenham . Entitled rude staff no idea how they even have jobs.

Just called to flag that there are men in army uniform and enormous fake rifles running around Wandsworth common and yelling “BANG” at eachother. The woman who picked up the phone replied with “yeah?”. I said it was antisocial behaviour, and she let out an exasperated sigh at me.

Sorry to be such a nuisance by complaining about people with realistic gun on Wandsworth Common.

Council tax related. Comms have been atrocious. Finally acted within 48 hours after I filed a complaint - only to find out that money had been refunded to a different account despite me giving MY details several weeks prior to the refund being made. FRUSTRATING.
