Much as I hate having to empty all my recycling bin containers into black bags and getting an able bodied friend (as I’m currently using crutches to walk) to help me load them into the landfill hopper, the staff were very friendly and considerate! It was busy due to the industrial action by members of the GMB union in Canterbury, holding out for higher pay rates for their members! I later discovered that the stuff in land fill goes to an incinerator in Aylesford so it’s not going to be added to landfill but will generate power!

This is the best example of council bureaucracy in Canterbury. First book your slot, then check on line to ensure your vehicle is compliant, if carrying large items apply for a large vehicle exemption, then you can drop off 2x 50 litre bags of soil / rubble and visit 4x per month (council website) so is that a calendar month? Is that 2x bags each visit? Does it matter? Oh yes! Challenged today after 2x bags and told I had reached my monthly limit, and the council wonder why fly tipping is on the increase. It really isn't rocket science. Jobsworths in ivory towers springs to mind.

I must take this opportunity to give this centre five stars! Like an idiot I mistakenly threw my car keys into the big compactor bin with my rubbish!! ? When confronting the staff with my problem, this chap came over. He was calm, professional and extremely helpful. He fished the keys out and put me at ease explaing that it's happened before...I only wish I had got his name as he is indeed a credit to Canterbury Council. I have never had a problem with this centre as they are extremely well organised...Thank you!

Very helpful staff. Welcoming smile and took bags for me to put in skip, plus walked over to electric part to put item there. Much appreciated as OAP with disabilities.

It's great. I love the fresh aroma and bucolic views.
Seriously though, it beats fly tipping, its usually not too crowded if you book a late or very early slot. You can recycle most things there.

Can't fault this place really. Plenty of parking space, staff are helpful. Booking system during pandemic has worked very well. Nice to know you won't need to queue too much.

The only -ve is the long distances between bins if you're taking different stuff. But that's the price you pay for plenty of parking I suppose.
