Amber and her colleague (sorry I have forgotten her name but can edit this) came out on Christmas Day at 5:30 a.m. in the morning to visit an 81 year old after an accident; it was a joy and delight to see them wearing reindeer antlers and other jolly headpieces. From the moment they arrived on the scene, they really cheered us up. To say that they were kind and compassionate would be an understatement, they sat patiently and listened to the patient and the main carer for a considerable amount of time. They did not just parachute in and then parachute out - they listened with kindness and compassion and explained their every steps. I meet with lots of paramedics and the teams are mostly both male or led by a man with a woman; I think this was the first time I had worked with two female paramedics and their kindness and compassion was on a different level. They were very aware to explain every step to the patient. Also, they very promptly followed up their visit and the next day after Boxing Day I received a call from the OCC first point of contact team, then an OT who will make a home visit, a falls nurse was also in touch and I have had three interactions with OCC's adult social services as we go through their triage process. Amber and her colleague provided exemplary patient-centred service with total kindness and compassion - it was a pleasure meeting them on Christmas Day; they brought some much needed joy, happiness and light on what would have been otherwise a very sad day; thanks for going above and beyond the call of duty.
