Don't believe the obviously fake 5 star reviews. This firm is seriously useless. I took in three doors for stripping. It took nearly 3 weeks to get them back only to find that there was still loads of old paint left on. There was no communication from the firm about when the doors would be ready and I had to spend 3 days finishing the job they started. Stupidly, I went back a little later with two cupboards for stripping. It took 2 weeks ! With no phone calls about the job progress. I couldn't believe the useless job they'd done: I had to completely strip them again when I got them home which took 5 hours of my time. The guy in the back room is sweet but useless and I told him so. The owner is smarmy and has no idea.

Excellent! Colin the owner was an absolute gentleman. Very helpful and courteous. My Victorian kitchen door took an awful amount of work to do and the result was stunning.
Colin delivered the door himself and fitted it all back again (not an easy task).
The Goods Yard have completed lots of work for me over the past 16 years and I have always been over the moon with the finished piece. If it takes a long time, there's good reason.

The politeness and apologetic nature of the backroom workers cannot be denied, however that is the one good thing I can say. The owner is foolhardy, arrogant, and downright rude.

I initially compiled some items that I had interest in (spent about an hour digging through the detritus and dust in the back room for them) only to be informed that the seller was out and I had to come by tomorrow. This was inconvenient but more or less understandable, so I did just that.

The next day, upon arriving when told to, I was informed the seller (once again) wasn't in. This was getting annoying, especially as these other staff were supposedly able to haggle on the seller's behalf, though not in this case. I was assured by one of the workers that he would be back at 4pm and to get back then, so still wishing to give them the benefit of the doubt, I did.

Upon returning just after 4pm I really began to feel I was being played for a fool; The shop was closed. As this had been my third trip I was beginning to question whether I even wanted to buy from them anymore. However, maybe I wanted to still trust in them, so I called the number on their website, and was connected to the elusive seller. I was given no apology for the inconvenience in their service, but was urged to return the following day, when he assured that he'd be there. Willing to give it one last try, I did.

Arriving on the third day of this ridiculous Circus, my patience having worn rather thin, I arrive and lo and behold, the seller is there! I approach and the man ( who seemed inconvenienced my my constant returns) was offered no apology, but it is what it is. For the first time it seemed as though a deal was going to take place. The man, getting almost flustered, gave me a price, and then wandered off without allowing me to retort. Me, assuming he was just grabbing something from elsewhere in the establishment, waited for a moment, completely ready to haggle. A minute passed, then two, then slightly after that I followed on, confused. A member of staff told me that he'd left, he'd left the shop in the middle of a deal. After days of being elusive and forcing my returning not once but THREE TIMES, he walked out. This was the height of rudeness and left me feel played for a fool. No longer holding any pretense, the mean arrogant seller had just walked out on me.

The backroom workshop guy, who had seen me come back multiple times seemed genuinely sorry, and that I appreciated. But with a fool like that running the business, I can only hope he'll quickly realise this attitude does not get repeat business.

Very disappointed, feel personally slighted, would not recommend, never going back!

Colin did an amazing job on stripping back, waxing and polishing our oak coffee tables! We were very happy with his service and would highly recommend him!

Heartless owner who clearly doesn't care about the community in which he 'serves'. I'd never give this individual my custom if he owned the last shop on earth. Sir, your actions taking pictures/videos of a mentally unwell individual (who consequently died) and posting them online jeering at him is nothing short of deplorable. Vile behaviour.

A treasure trove of antiquities (including Colin!) Always a pleasure to rummage for hidden gems and vintage curios to add character to any period home.

The strip joint changed ownership in 2013 and is now run by a spiv who combines arrogance with ignorance and rudeness
The work they did for us was hopeless. Items were only partially stripped and I am not at all sure they know what they are doing
The previous owner was knowledgeable and thorough and did a wonderful job
I strongly suggest you do not use this company

Absolutely lovely and helpful service. A true Aladdin's cave and a must if you're renovating a period property.
