Considering the strains the NHS are under and how most people cant even get a doctors appointment around the country, as long as you follow their system you can always get a callback appointment on the day and a physical appointment most days. Receptionists appear to be far more friendly nowadays and I expect they have to deal with some difficult people so that's impressive in itself.

I attended the surgery on 22/08/2025 to pay £165 for a health declaration form. I explained that cash machines don’t usually dispense £5 notes and I could only bring £170. The receptionist tried to help but was unable to give change. While I was discussing this, another staff member from the back of the room, commented, “She needs to come back on Tuesday, it’s a GP not a bank, what did she expect,” with a dismissive facial expression.

I found this extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. I had simply asked for change because the practice insists on cash payments for private work — which is already unusual — and was made to feel like I had done something wrong.

As a patient, I expect courtesy and respect, especially when paying significant fees. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling embarrassed and unwelcome.

Quite impossible to actually get through to these guys for days on end. The automated text-to-speech already takes up 90s when you start calling, just for you to get told the offices are still closed when you call during triage opening hours. Forced to hang up, call back and lose any potential chance I have to be seen by a doctor or even speak with one.

This happens far too frequently and generally speaking, there isn't really any saving grace to this surgery other than a couple of the Doctors that have helped me in the past. The entire system is messed up here.

My 5* Review of Gossops Green Medical Centre

I am seeing so many negative reviews of this place and there are hardly any 5 star reviews, so let me be the start. There was a time that this place was really bad, appointments were so hard to get, phones not answered. 5 years ago, I could not get an appointment for coughing fits and twice a doctors appointment was refused saying there is “lot of flu going around” and to take over the counter meditation. These coughing fits then resulted into serious injury, nerve damage, carotid artery dissection and blood clot. Happy to say that I have been healed of all this largely due to mindset, lifestyle changes.
Fast forward to today, it Is not often I have a need to contact surgery, but as and when it is needed I am given the appointments same day. Sometimes phones have been very busy so I request a call back and someone calls me within 10 minutes. The back office staff is so friendly, polite and courteous and so is the case with the doctors.

Remember they are humans and have stressful and challenging jobs. We often rush to moan and groan and blame everyone except ourselves. We blame the governments for “neglecting the NHS” but then each successive government has pumped in record amount of money into NHS, but the demand is increasing at a very fast rate! The people are becoming ill, largely due to poor lifestyle. Obesity is on increase, which then leads to diabetes, heart conditions, low immunity etc. If only people started to eat well, exercise, be happy then you would not need to visit the doctors!

I am impressed with the service which the Gossops green medical centre provides to the patients. Thank You!

I saw a pharmacist for my yearly check.up on my emphysema, what a waste of time, needed ask questions, but she couldn't answer any of them , asked me if my emphysema had got worse, i said she, then took my oxygen readings and told me it was 100 percent, what a joke, I have to walk slow and rest as my breathing isn't good, I. Might as well stayed home waste of time.

Doctors cannot do SIMPLE maths always refuse important pain medications when due then when questioned told we will put request through again when patient has now run out due to doctor’s negligence! Receptionists did get alot better but unfortunately they are not very good again now promising to call you back twice and do not! When you do see a dr they ask what do you want me to do about it ? Lack of care for patients except to refer them and leave them for months with no help

Great GP practice, we had nothing but positive experiences, from booking an appointment, to seeing a nurse or a doctor. Everyone is very kind and professional. The reception staff are so lovely and kind, unlike some gp practices. We are very happy to have a gp where we feel happy and looked after. Thank you to all staff working at the practice.

Gave me 30 day notice to find a new GP as was no longer in the catchment area. 22 days from receiving the letter, they wouldn't do my repeat prescription for critical medication as "I'm not registered there", and told me I couldn't make an appointment.
