In celebration of Climate Week which was on 24th-30th October, Telšiai Region Waste Management Centre in collaboration with packaging management company Zaliasis taškas, organised a brainstorming session for schools under the theme “Fighting climate change”.
The battle of wits took place online on October 26th, with the following rules:
- Students had to form teams, with each team consisting of up to 6 students
- An unlimited number of teams could represent one school and participate in the event
- Each team had to come up with a name for their team
18 teams took place in total with 8 teams from 1-4th grade, 2 teams from 5-8th grade and 8 teams from 9-12th grade.
The teams that answered questions related to climate change and collected the most points were awarded prizes established by the project Circular Based Waste Management Project.
A pleasant surprise resulting from the activity was the already good level of knowledge among students related to climate change. The following teams were announced as winners:
In the 1st – 4th grade group:
- Pro-gymnasium of Plungė academician Adolfos Jucias, team Ėuolai
- Telšiai district Varniai Motiejaus Valančius high school team Penguins
- Pro-gymnasium of Plungė academician Adolfos Jucias, team Salutės
In the 5-8th grade group:
- Mažeikių Pavasaris high school, team Gudručiai
In the 9-12th grade group:
- Telšiai Džiugo high school, team Džiugas žiugioi
